This carriage is constructed with framework of Moulmein teak, and panels of papier mache. It is provided with an upper roof, as a protection from the sun; the lower roof being fitted with lamps and movable ventilators. The interior is trimmed with light drab morocco; the windows in both doors and quarters are made to fall, and are fitted with Venetian sun-shades and spring curtains.
Ventilators, to be opened or closed at pleasure, are provided above the windows. The under-frame is of wrought iron of the most approved construction; and the carriage is mounted on solid wrought iron wheels, having Beattie's patent tire fastening. The axle-boxes are also Beattie's patent, to work either with oil or grease.
