1887 September. Held on the Great North Road between Hitchin and Peterborough. 42 competitors. Won by E. Hale on a safety bicycle who completed it in 6h. 46m 7s. Brown and White on a tandem were second and Edge on a Safety was third in 7h. 9m 59s.[1]
