1887 Great North Road 24-Hour Cycle Race
1887 September. 'In the Great North Road 24 hours' cycling race, on Saturday L. Waterhouse, of Sheffield, on a "Safety," covered 270 miles, while C. Mills, on a tricycle, did 267 miles, notwithstanding the heavy roads.'[1]
