The club was formed in March 1909, at Carlton House, Regent Street; headquarters at that time of the British Automobile Racing Club who operated the Brooklands Racing Track at Weybridge in Surrey.

1909 Formation of the club. George Reynolds was prime mover and became secretary. Committee consisted of F. Lindsay Lloyd, H. H. Collier, W. H. Bashall, O. L. Summers, W. H. Wells, W. Pratt, R. M. Brice, R. O. Clark, A. G. Forster, A. V. Ebblewhite.[1]

Another source says the F. Straight and E. C. W. Fitzherbert were also involved.
