'WORLDS CYCLE CAR RECORDS. At Brooklands yesterday, under ideal weather conditions. B. H. Hayward, on a Singer cycle car improved upon the figures accomplished by him on August 13. at present awaiting acceptance as a world's cycle car record for the hundred miles, by covering that distance in 1h. 22m. 4.2s. his speed of 72.444-m.p.h. being one mile an hour better than his previous performance. His time of 41min. 28.4sec., a speed of 72.33 m.p.h., also improved on the previous best for the fifty miles, and his distance of 72 miles 976 yards, a speed of 72.55.m.p.h., surpassed the previous best figures for the hour.'[1]
