From Graces Guide

Note: This is a sub-section of 1914 Brooklands Calendar

'Driving a twelve-cylinder 60-h.p. Sunbeam car at Brooklands on Wednesday afternoon Jean Chassagne broke a number of the existing records for short distances. The half-mile, flying start, was accomplished in 15.03 sec., which gives a speed of 119.76 miles per hour, or ten miles per hour faster than the old record. The mile was covered in 29.82 see., or 120.73 miles per hour, a still greater improvement on the old record, which stood at 106.86 miles per hour.'[1]
