From Graces Guide

Note: This is a sub-section of 1914 Brooklands Calendar

'It was officially announced yesterday that C. B. Franklin, riding a 7-9 h.p. Indian at Brooklands on Tuesday last, improved upon the old world's record for the ten miles standing start in the 1000 cc. class by nearly four miles per hour. Franklin covered the distance in 7min. 41.8 sec., which is equivalent to 77.95 m.p.h., whereas the previous best was 74.04 m.p.h. set up by E. Remington on a Matchless-J.A.P. on August 9, 1913.'[1]
