1914 Aerial Derby

The Third Aerial Derby was held on the 6th June 1914 - after a postponement of two weeks - at Hendon Aerodrome

There were 23 machines entered but weather conditions were bad and only eleven started.

The competitors were:

Filip Augustin Bjorklund - Bleriot monoplane with a 50 hp Gnome engine
William Birchenough - Maurice Farman pusher biplane with 70 hp Renault engine.
Reginald Hugh Carr - Henry Farman pusher biplane with 80 hp Gnome engine. 2nd place
Pierre Verrier - Henry Farman pusher biplane with 80 hp Gnome engine. 3rd place
Lewis Arbon Strange - Bleriot monoplane with 80 hp Gnome engine
John Alcock - Maurice Farman pusher biplane with 100 hp Sunbeam engine.
Walter Laurence Brock - Morane-Saulnier monoplane with 80 hp Le Rhone engine. 1st place
Louis Noel - Morane-Saulnier monoplane with 80 hp Le Rhone engine
John Carbery - Morane-Saulnier monoplane with 80 hp Le Rhone engine
Cecil Howard Pixton - Sopwith Tabloid tractor biplane with 80 hp Gnome engine
Richard Harold Barnwell - Sopwith Tabloid tractor biplane with 100 hp Gnome engine
