1883 Born in Kensington, London, son of Arthur Edwin Scanes, an accountant, and his wife Matilda[1]
1901 Arthur Scanes 44, secretary of an electrical company, lived in Kensington with Matilda Scanes 47, Arthur Scanes 19, student, Agnes Scanes 8[2]
Presumably worked for the pump branch of the Westinghouse company as c.1908 he had inspected and stripped down a Leblanc pump made by the French Westinghouse company[3]
1911 A mechanical engineer (steam) boarding in Old Trafford, Manchester, with a number of electrical engineers from British Westinghouse Electrical Manufacturing Co[4]
1913 of Manchester, when he wrote to The Engineer[5]
1939 Engineer, Manager works and engineering, switchgear, control gear, traction control, for Metropolitan-Vickers, lived in Sale with Hilda Scanes[6]
1965 Died in Manchester[7]
