of Glenpatrick Works, Elderslie Road, Johnstone, Renfrewshire.

1894 The company was registered on 21 June, to acquire the business of carpet manufacturers of the firm of the same name. [1]

1959 Acquired Henry Widnell and Stewart.

1963 Makers of Axminster and Wilton carpets for over a century (see advert)

1964 The main subsidiaries were Henry Widnell and Stewart, and Douglas, Reyburn and Co[2]

1968 The value of owning spinning mills had been demonstrated by improved results from Douglas, Reyburn and Co[3]

1970 The whole business was transferred to Stewarts Spinners (Galashiels) which was renamed as A. F. Stoddard and Co Ltd; Stoddard Holdings Ltd was incorporated

1973 the holding company was Stoddard Holdings Ltd[4]

1982 Re-registered as Stoddard Holdings PLC

1983 The operating company was renamed Stoddard Carpets Ltd. including Stewarts Spinners (Galashiels)

1980 Guthrie Corporation merged most of its carpet interests with Stoddard Holdings, which involved transfer of Templeton and Kingsmead Carpets to Stoddard in exchange for a substantial holding (but still a minority) of the shares[5]

1988 Stoddard Holdings plc was renamed Stoddard Sekers International plc
