1966 Obituary[1]

"We regret to record the death of Mr. A. G. W. Cannon, M.B.E., who was manufacturing assistant to the general manager of AEI motor and control gear division when he retired in April, 1966, after more than fifty years' service with the company. Starting at Rugby as an apprentice, Mr. Cannon left to serve in the Royal Navy during the First World War. In 1920 he rejoined the company as a jig and tool draughtsman at the Birmingham Works. Appointed plant and planning engineer in 1929 and mechanical superintendent in 1941, he retained the latter position until 1951 when he became manager, Birmingham Works. When the AEI motor and control gear division came into being in 1959 Mr. Cannon was appointed its, manufacturing manager. He was an Associate Member of the Institute of Production Engineers."
