1826 Company formed by Absolom Harper and his two sons, to make fire grates and iron shot.

Absolom’s daughter Mary married George Bean. After their marriage George left his job with Allen Everitt and Sons of Smethwick and joined the Harper family business.

In 1901 George Bean became the principal shareholder.

1907 The name was changed to A. Harper, Sons and Bean in 1907 when George became chairman
