Commander Arthur Rice (c1884-1914). RN. Early aviator.

1914 1914 June 4th. Died at Calshot Air Station while flying in a Short seaplane. The plane stalled in a turn at low height and applied full elevator suddenly to pull out of the resultant dive and the left hand pair of wings collapsed. The plane dived into Southhampton Water. Thomas Scholes Creswell was also killed.
