(Arthur) Vennell Coster (1864-1931)
1864 Born in Barnstaple
Educated at Whitgift School, Croydon and South Norwood College
1879-85 Apprentice with Messrs Cooper and Co, Hull, engineers and boiler makers, supplied marine engines.
1885-6 With Earles Shipbuilding and Engineering Co
1886-9 With the Peninsular and Oriental Company in London and later at sea.
Returned to Cooper and Co, and also science teacher.
1891 Engineer's draughtsman, boarder in Hull[1]
1891 of Hull, when he wrote a letter to The Engineer.
1893-4 Also consultant engineer to Humber Pilot Commissioners
1895 and for the next 11 years worked with the internal combustion engine in connection with Messrs. Crossley Brothers
1907 Member of I Mech E; he was head of the gas engines and machinery department of Crossley Brothers, Openshaw.
1907 He was in Manchester, having acquired 15 years experience with the marine steam engine.
1911 Arthur Vennell Coster 46, gas engine engineer, engaged in the sale and manufacture of gas engines and gas plants, lived in Marple, with Julia Coster 50 Dorothy Vennell Coster 16, Kathleen Irving Coster 16, Florence Marguerite Coster 14 Vernon Beatson Coster 7[2]
1931 Died at Walthamstow[3]
