1949 Company incorporated to acquire the Austin Veneer and Panel Co Ltd, Globe Veneered Plywood Co Ltd, Woodland Furniture (London) Ltd, Sheer Metalcraft Ltd, P. Bendell Ltd, Welsh Furniture Industries Ltd, Amatacraft Ltd and Durabestos (Woodworkers) Ltd.
1959 A. V. P. Industries acquired the Hotel Metropole, Brighton[1]
1973 Completed construction of London Metropole Hotel. Subsidiaries included Homeworthy Guaranteed Furniture, Lightfoot Refrigeration Co, Sheer Pride furniture, two cold stores and Southern Watch and Clock Supplies Ltd. Had gained permission to build a hotel at the new National Exhibition Centre site at Birmingham.[2]
1976 Birmingham Metropole Hotel was opened. Also owned Metropole Hotel (Brighton), Warwick Hotel, Birmingham, Dereham Engineering Ltd, Robert Pringle and Sons Ltd amongst others.[3]
1977 The company was acquired by Lonrho plc
1985 Name changed to Metropole Hotel (Holdings) Ltd. It owned hotels in London, Birmingham, Brighton and Blackpool.
1996 Acquired by Stakis plc.
