of Edinburgh

1899 A. and J. Macnab Limited was incorporated, with capital of £30,000, to acquire as going concerns (a) the business of dyers and cleaners, laundry, etc carried on by the firm of A. & J. Macnab at Inglis Green, Slateford, near Edinburgh, together with their branches, agencies, etc; and (b) the business of general drapers carried on under the name of Alex Stevenson at 53 and 54 South Bridge, Edinburgh.[1]

1947 A notice that the Stock Exchange required the company to publish shed light on the company's history and current operations. The company had acquired the business set up by Alexander and John Macnab in 1845, but the enterprise reputedly went back for 250 years. The company operated as dyers, cleaners and woollen manufacturers. It also owned a subsidiary, the Inglis Green Laundry Company Limited. The company's activities comprised two separate departments: (a) dyeing, dry cleaning, and renovation of garments and household furnishings, (b) the manufacture of woollens, especially homespun tweeds, blankets, and travelling rugs of the finest quality. The company and its subsidiary had 67 receiving depots and branch shops. Together the two companies had around 800 employees.[3]

2008 The company was struck off and dissolved.[4]
