1881 The company was registered. [1] The object of the company was to remedy the want of efficient steam communication between the Moray Firth ports (Buckie, Invergordon, Cromarty, Fortrose, and Inverness) and Aberdeen and Leith. A steamer would carry general cargo, livestock and passengers. The capital of the company was £20,000.[2]

1914 The undertaking was sold to the Glasgow and Liverpool Royal Steam Packet Co and the company went into voluntary liquidation.[3]
