Early 1950s Sheepbridge Engineering of Chesterfield acquired Advance Motor Manufacturing Co. Around this time they were renamed as Advance Motor Supplies Ltd.

1963 Motor Show exhibitor. Distributors / retailers. Listed as Advance Motor Supplies of Chesterfield. [1]

1966 A member of the Sheepbridge Engineering Group (see advert)

1979 GKN purchased Sheepbridge including Advance.

1982 the company name was changed to GKN Replacement Services Ltd.

By 1984 the name had changed again to GKN Autoparts Distribution Ltd.

1989 Another name change occurred on 25th Sept 1989 this to Autoparts Distribution Ltd.

On the 1st January 1990 Partco Ltd acquired GKN Autoparts, except for some businesses that Partco did not want

Became Partco AutoParts Ltd.

1994 Flotation of the Partco Autoparts company[2]

1996 Acquired Serck Marston, distributor of radiators

1997 Acquired Brown Brothers, maker of car components, which means the company had trebled in size since flotation in 1994[3]
