1932 Company incorporated, initially as Growel Electrical Co but name changed the same year to Agro Electrical Co, maker of electrical bells and other electrical accessories.

1975 Chloride Group made an agreed bid for Gent, a private company making firing alarms which was a large user of rechargeable batteries[1]

1977 Agro Electrical became Chloride Gent Ltd

1982 Gent, maker of fire alarm equipment including industrial and commercial clocks and call systems, was sold to MK Electric plc[2]

1982 Became Gent Ltd

1994 Became Caradon Gent Ltd

2000 Caradon sold many of its activities. The company was renamed Gent Ltd
