Alan Lawrence Westbrook (1893-1941)


1940/41 Obituary [1]

Alan Lawrence Westbrook was born in 1893.

In 1928 he became Assistant Sales Manager to General Motors Near East, and was later Sales Manager in charge of sales and service in Egypt, Sudan, Arabia, Palestine, Syria, Turkey, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Iraq and Iran.

He then joined Morris Commercial Cars and became General Manager in Bucharest and later in Warsaw.

In 1933 he returned to England as Service Manager with the same firm at Birmingham, becoming General Utilities Manager in 1935.

He served during the present war as Captain, and later as Colonel, when he was appointed to a special mission for the War Office.

He was killed in a flying accident in August, 1941, at the age of 48.

He was elected a Member in 1939.

Alan Lawrence Westbrook was born in 1893 and educated at Felsted School.

In 1928 he became Sales Manager of General Motors, Near East, and a year later was sent to U.S.A. for training.

In 1930 he returned as Sales and Service Manager for General Motors in Egypt, Sudan, Arabia, Palestine, Syria, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria and Yugoslavia.

In 1933 he returned to England as Service Manager to Morris Commercial Cars. In 1935 he became General Utilities Manager with the same firm and remained with them in that capacity until his death on 28th August, 1941, at the age of 48.

He was elected a Member in 1939.
