1891 Born Combe Down, Bath, Somerset.

Educated Bath Technical College.

Apprenticed with A. Stockall and Son, Bath, General Engineers.

1915 Machine Shop Foreman to Brazil, Straker and Co. Ltd., makers of Straker Squire cars.

1922 Bristol Tramways and Carriage Co. Ltd., as Planning Engineer and Chief Ratefixer for the manufacture of Bristol Bus and Commercial Vehicles.

1930-7 Hon. Secretary to Western Branch of the Institution of Automobile Engineers.

1936 became Production Manager, Leyland Motors, South of England Factory.

1938 Promoted Works Manager

Subsequently served at Leyland Works in Lancashire as Acting Assistant General Manager.

WWII Ministry of Aircraft Production asked him to take managerial positions with number of large firms.

1946 General Manager, Trojan Ltd., Croydon.
