ROUND, Lt.-Col. Alec John; b. 28th June, 1897, at Birmingham s. of Alexander Round, deceased. Military Cross, Sept., 1918; Croix-de Guerre, Sept., 1918. Educ.: King Edward's High School, New Street, Birmingham. Joined firm of B. J. Round and Sons, Electro platers, etc., in January, 1914; in August, 1914, joined Birmingham University O.T.C.; thence commissioned in June, 1915, to the South Wales Borderers; two years active service in Serbia and Macedonia with British Salonika Force; in 1919 rejoined the firm as general manager; now general manager of B. J. Round and Sons and managing director of the B. J. Round Silver and Platinum Plating Co., Ltd. Joined 8th Warwickshire Regt. (T.A.), as Lieutenant, 1920; elected to Council of Birmingham Jewellers' and Silversmiths' Association, 1932 (still serving); assumed command of 8th Royal Warwickshire Regt. (T.A.), 1934; president of the Manufacturers and Electroplaters Metal Finishing Association, 1935; m. Ilfra, d. of Colonel C. Playfair, J.P., June 28th, 1923; one s. Recreations: Territorial Army, motoring. Address: 45, West Drive, Heathfield Park, Handsworth, Birmingham.
