Alexander Christie (1789-1859), iron master, of Calder Iron Works, and Devon Iron Works (Clackmannanshire)

1789 Born in Old Monkland[1]

1805 Practical manager of the Calder Iron Works from the year 1805 to 1841,

1820 January 4th. Marriage of 'Mr. Alexander Christie, Calder Iron Works, to Isabella, daughter of Mr. John Robertson, Lennoxtown, Campsie.[2] At Old Monkland, Lanarkshire.

c.1825 Partner in the Calder Iron Works

1835 The co-partnership at Calder was dissolved

1841 Alexander Christie 50, Manager, Calder Works, with Isabella Christie 45, John Christie 15[3]

1851 Alexander Christie 61, Iron Master , lived in East Side House, Clackmannan, with Isabella Christie 59, Alexander Thomson 23, colliery overseer, Visitor[4]

c.1853 Ironmaster at Devon Iron Works, near Alloa

He had been engaged in the iron trade for forty-five years, with but a few months intermission.
