1935 Died. 'The death has occurred of Mr. Alexander Muirhead. C.I.E. The late Mr. Alexander Muirhead was Annuity Trustee of the Great Indian Peninsula Railway, Chairman and Managing Director of the South Indian Railway, Chairman of the Pondicherry Railway and a Director of the East Indian Distilleries and Sugar Factories, Limited. He was born in 1859. After leaving school, he went into business, but subsequently joined Indian State Railways as an Assistant Traffic Superintendent. Between the time of his joining Indian State Railways and 1911 he rose to Traffic Manager of the Southern Mahratta and then to General Traffic Manager of the Great Indian Peninsula Railway. From 1911 till 1919 he was Agent in India to the South Indian Railway Company.'[2]
