Born the son of Samuel Miles, a Light Carriage maker, and his wife Sarah Jane May.

1878 Married (1) at Cheltenham to Mary Ann Lacey (1849-1881)

1882 Married (2) at Bishop's Cleeve to Ruth Blanche Jackson (1851-1908)

1911 Living at The Orchids, Prestbury Road, Cheltenham: Alfred James Miles (age 57 born Salisbury), Carriage and Motor Builder - Employer. With his wife Ruth Blanche, two daughters, and son Felix Leopold Miles (age 26 born Cheltenham), Carriage and Motor Builder.[1]

1932 Died, of St. Anne's, Cheltenham, retired coach builder, member of the Gloucestershire County Council.
