"Alfred Jules Belpaire.— We record with regret the death of Monsieur Alfred Jules Belpaire, on January 27, last, at his residence in Schaerbeck. Monsieur Belpaire was born at Ostend in September, 1820, and his name has been famous among the railway engineers of the Continent during the last 40 years. At the time of his death, Monsieur Belpaire was Administrator of the Belgian State Railways, and President of the International Railway Congress."
