1901 Opened as the Alhambra Palace. Conceived by developers John Gardner and John Scott and young architect Herbert Howarth, all of whom lived near by. John Edmondson was the experienced local building contractor who also installed the electric lighting in the theatre.

1970 Fire gutted the interior.
