1920 founded by Henry Matley. Originally located in Stretford, it moved to Altrincham in the 1920s. The company manufactured mainly lake dyes and azo dyes, particularly for non-textile uses.

1934 ICI started to purchase shares in the firm
1939 ICI fully acquired the company. The firm then went into voluntary liquidation, although ICI continued to use its Altrincham site for other purposes for several years.
