1954 Acquired Draftex, which owned Bright Manufacturing Co and Bright Products, manufacturing aircraft, motor and industrial sealing devices[4]
1955 Acquired Renfrew Aircraft and Engineering Co, of Renfrew, Canada, to make aero-engine parts[5]
1956 Acquired Trent Foundries, specialist in sand casting of non-ferrous alloys[6]
1957 Name changed to Solar Industries[7]

1960 The Greenock Foundry of Aluminium Castings Company was closed[8].
