Ambrose Barrett (c1884-1956)
1956 Died. 'The death occurred in Westbury Hospital of Mr. Ambrose Barrett, of 116, Leigh Road, Westbury, at the age of 72. Mr. Barrett, a native of Ramsbottom in Lancashire went to Frome in 1917 as the Manager of the old Frome gas works and continued in that capacity until 1937, when the undertaking was absorbed by the Bath Gas Company. During the war Mr. Barrett undertook A.R.P. organisation in the Bathavon district and, later, went as manager of Westbury gas works, and afterwards had charge of the Trowbridge and Warminster works. He retired a year ago. He was a director Edward Cockey and Son Ltd, of Frame, gas engineers...'[1]
