Mr. Andrew Welch died at Ayr, Scotland, on October 23, 1942, at the age of 49.

Born in Glasgow, Mr. Welch was for eight years a public analyst in Calcutta, before becoming Chief Chemist to the Glacier Metal Company, Ltd. of Alperton, Middlesex, in 1926. This position he held until the time of his death.

Mr. Welch was a well-known member of the Institute, which he joined in 1929.
