1926 Capt. J. E. Appleyard, the Leeds motor agent, made a lengthy visit to the United States and Canada.[1]

1949 Appleyards purchased Steele and Cowlishaw

1957 Name changed to Appleyard Group of Companies Ltd

1958 Baker, Perkins purchased Steele and Cowlishaw .

1961 Motor engineers, distributors for the Nuffield Organization, Jaguar, Armstrong Siddeley, Daimler and Lanchester cars. Coachbuilders. Agricultural engineers. 900 employees. [2]
