ARCHIBALD ROBERT DAYSON was a native of Leeds, and died on the 19th November, 1928, in his 58th year.
He received his early education at Leeds Grammar School and, after an engineering training, entered the service of Messrs. Ferranti, being ultimately engaged by them upon the erection of plant at - among other places - the electricity works of the Southport and Plymouth Corporations.
He subsequently occupied the post of electrical engineer to the Plymouth Corporation Tramways undertaking, resigning on obtaining a similar appointment under the Sunderland Corporation.
In 1904 he was appointed general manager of the last mentioned authority's tramway undertaking, a position which he held until his decease, a period of practically 25 years.
He was twice married and left a widow and a son by the second marriage Music, photography, and motoring were only a few of his many interests, and he was also a prominent freemason and a man of personal charm.
He joined the Institution in 1904 as a Member.
