From Graces Guide

Grain whisky distillers, Greenock

1896 Ardgowan Distillery Company Limited was incorporated, with capital of £100,000. It registered office was at 47 Hope Street, Glasgow.[1]

1898 The new distillery began production in spite of the incomplete state of the works.[2]

1899 The company was granted permission to erect a six storey bonded warehouse.[3]

1902 The company was acquired by the Distillers Co as part of a plan to restrict the over-production of grain whisky.

1903 A fire, considered the most serious that had ever taken place in Greenock, had its origin in one of the company's stores, which contained up to one million gallons of whisky.[4]

1907 The company went into voluntary liquidation.[5]
