Arthur Chadwick (c1875-1936)

Manger of Exeter City and played for Accrington Stanley and England.

1936 Died. 'While watching Exeter City's match with Clapton Orient at Exeter, Mr. Arthur Chadwick, Exeter City's first manager, collapsed in the grandstand. Despite attention from medical men and members St. John Ambulance he died within few minutes. Mr. Chadwick, a native of Lancashire, went to Exeter in 1908 as manager of Exeter City on its election to the old Southern League. After the War he went Reading, which club, under him, won promotion to the Second Division Football League. Later he went to Southampton as manager, and on retiring went to live at Exeter. In his early days he was a noted centre-half, and was capped for England.'[1]
