Arthur James Burton (1916- )

1959 A.M.I.Mech.E. Works Director, The Austin Motor Co., Ltd., since 1957, and of the Midland factories of the British Motor Corporation, Ltd. b: September 12, 1916, Birmingham. Educ: Birmingham Central Technical College. Joined Wolseley Motors, Ltd., as an engineering apprentice, 1932; served in H.M. Forces, 1939-46. attaining the rank of Major and mentioned in dispatches; rejoined Wolseley Motors, Ltd., as Chief Gear Engineer and later became, successively, Assistant Works Manager, Works Manager and, in 1953, Branch Manager; following the formation of The British Motor Corporation, appointed a Local Director of The Austin Motor Co., Ltd., and Super visor of Factories; in September, 1956, became Works Director of The Austin Motor Co., Ltd
