Arthur Mowbray Berkeley (1870-1937)

Born the son of Major-General Frederick George Berkeley and his wife Mary Louisa Dickson

1903 Married Irene Lutwyche Waterlow and had three daughters

Rossall School and Coopers Hill Engineering College. Pupil Assistant, Saxby and Bourne Railway, Midland Railway, 1891-2; Assistant Engineer, Assam-Bengal Railway, 1892-6; Executive Engineer, 1896-1906; Chief Engineer, 1906-15. Chief Works: Construction and maintenance of the Assam-Bengal Railway and the Port of Chittagong. Club: Oriental. War Services.—Captain, Sappers and Miners, France, 1915; Major, Military Works (Railways); built the Sheikh Saad Railway, Mesopotamia, 1916; Lieut.-Colonel, Assistant Director of Railways; restored the Bagdad Railway and built the Fellujah and Sadiyah branches, 1917, 1918, 1919.

1937 Died. 'The death has occurred of Lieut.-CoL A. M. Berkeley. Lieut.-Col. Arthur Mowbray Berkeley. C.1.E., was born in 1870 and educated at Rossal and the Oxford Military College, Coopers Hill. He joined the staff oi the Assam Bengal Railway in 1693 and was Chief Engineer in 1906-14. During the European War he served in France and Mesopotamia and was mentioned in despatches.
