ARTHUR STANHOPE ALDRICH, born at Orford, Suffolk, on the 14th November, 1839, died at Wellington, N.Z., on the 28th October, 1908.

Having gained experience of railway accountancy in London and Dublin, he became in 1872 Chief Accountant, and, later, Secretary to the Japanese Government Railways, afterwards, for over 20 years, acting as General Adviser and Manager to the Railway Department.

He was elected an Associate on the 4th December, 1883.
