1869 Isaac Storey and Sons constructed Ashton and Storey's Steam Power Meter (see picture).

1870 Mr Ashton presented to the British Association meeting in Liverpool about the metering of steam[1]

In collaboration with J. H. Storey

1885 Ernest Scott gained a Gold medal at the 1885 Inventions Exhibition in respect of Ashton's positive-actioned Steam Power Meter and Continuous Indicator[2]
