Professor Augustus George Vernon Harcourt (1834-1919).

1834 Born in London on the 24th December, the elder son of Admiral Frederick E. Vernon Harcourt (1790–1883) and his wife, Marcia (d. 1868), sister of the first Lord Tollemache. His grandfather was Edward Harcourt (1757–1847), archbishop of York.

1895-97 President of the Chemical Society. [1]

1898 Exhibited new form of the Pentane lamp[2]

1919 Died on the 23rd August.
