Benjamin Joseph Jacobs (c1860-1937)
Left Sibley and Son of Parrett Works, Martock, Somerset, to join J. B. Petter's Yeovil Foundry and General Engineering Works as general foreman, bringing with him an immense amount of practical knowledge.
In 1895 he worked with Ernest Petter and Percival Waddams Petter to design and construct the first Petter oil engine. He also designed and constructed some of the first British dynamos.
He became Chief Engineer and a Director of Petters.
Benjamin Jacobs died at his home in Sherborne Road, Yeovil on 26 April 1937, at the age of 77.
