1987 BICC Technologies, the electrical and electronics division of BICC had seen a slump in profits due to teething troubles at a new factory on Merseyside (which replaced 4 older factories) and also at a new plant, Sealectro, in the USA (replacing 2 older factories)[1]

1987 Acquired ATS (Telemetry) of Haywards Heath, which would complement the existing business of Transmitton which was involved in telemtry and energy management, and help build a systems group of significance[2]
