In March, 1901, journeyed on his car through Belgium, Germany, and Switzerland over the Alps into France. On one occasion drove from Monte Carlo to London in five days. HINDE, BALLIN.- Born in 1858, Mr. Ballin Hinde received his education at King Edward's Grammar School, Birmingham, Paris and Hanover. He is a director of Hindes, Limited, his principal pursuits and pastimes being travel, boating, and automobilism. The latter he took up in 1897, owning amongst others a 12 and 16 h.p. Panhard, 20 h.p. Parsifal, and 16 h.p. Benz car. Travelling by automobile has great attractions to a great traveller, and thus it is not surprising that Mr. Ballin Hinde makes very considerable use of his cars for long-distance runs. In 1901 he covered the distance between Paris and London in one day, and in the winter of that and the following year he twice successfully negotiated the Alps, travelling from San Remo to Paris in four days. He joined the Club on December 5th, 1899, and has been elected to the Club Committee on February 27th, 1902.
