Bariquand & Sons of Paris

Makers of armaments, sewing machines, and machine tools.

The business was founded in 1834 by Jules Bariquand in a workshop located at 127 rue Oberkampf in Paris. He was joined by his son Émile, the firm becoming Bariquand & Fils.

1860, sewing machine manufacture started.

Bariquand stopped manufacturing sewing machines and turned to the manufacture of specialised machines for the manufacture of interchangeable rifle parts (including parts for the Chassepot and Gras rifles).

At the end of the 19th century , the Ateliers Bariquands & Fils joined forces with Charles Marre and became Bariquand et Marre.
