Barking Gas Co

1836 A private gas undertaking was formed by David Hulett in Barking

1837 The business became the Barking Gas Co. by deed of settlement.

1858 The company was dissolved and the works purchased by Mr Hullet (sic).

1867 Another Barking Gas Co. (Statutory) was formed. The works were located at Abbey Road, Barking close to the River Roding.

1912 the Gas Light and Coke Co. purchased the undertaking and closed the manufacturing station, although the gasholders remained in use after 1949.
