1985 Acquired William Leech plc. Acquired G. E. Wallis and Sons[1]
1986 Acquired French Kier, contractors[2]
1988 Name changed to Beazer plc
1988 Acquired Koppers, a US aggregates group but this deal saddled the company with a lot of debt
1991 Just before an EGM to approve the sale of the British and European operations to reduce debt, Beazer was acquired by Hanson[3]
1992 The UK construction businesses were sold to their management by Hanson, forming Kier Group, Britain’s first major contractor to be employee-owned. The ex-Beazer businesses inc;uded in the new company were French Kier, Kier Construction, Marriott, Moss Construction, Wallis.[4]
1994 Hanson sold all of its holding in the British operations of Beazer by flotation as Beazer Homes and sold Beazer Homes USA; Hanson retained 33 percent holding in Beazer USA[5]
