1901 'THE Bengal Iron and Steel Co., Ld. (of which Messrs. Martin and Co. are the Managing Agents), are about to lay down a large steel plant for the production of rails and bars. The outturn will, we learn, be some 60,000 tons annually. The Company have hitherto confined themselves to pig iron and castings, the annual output exceeding 25,000 tons. A new furnace now ready to be blown in, which will more than double these figures.'[2]
