Bertram Ford Sperring (c1874-1927) of W. H. Sperring and Co

1928 Obituary [1]

BERTRAM FORD SPERRING, whose death occurred on 20th May 1927, at the age of 53 years, was the principal of the Portsmouth firm of Messrs. W. H. Sperring and Company of the Albion Iron Works, the management of which he had conducted since the death of his father in 1896.

Under his control the business expanded and the equipment and extent of the works were greatly enlarged, so that its products became of more than local repute. These include castings, rolled iron goods and girders, roofs and columns; but Mr. Sperring took a special interest in and made a speciality of castings for gas and water companies, and he did much important work in this direction.

He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1911 and a Member in 1921.
