1916 Obituary [1]

BERTRAND THORNTON KNIGHT, born on the 9th April, 1863, died at Hendon on the 5th July, 1916.

After acting as Engineer to a large tea estate in Upper Assam, and as Consulting Engineer to the Government of British North Borneo, he commenced in 1892 his service with the Siamese State Railways, which lasted until 1915, when he returned on sick leave.

At first he was employed by the contractor, Mr. Murray Campbell, and in 1897 he joined the Royal Railway Department, and was engaged on various sections of line as Divisional Engineer, and subsequently as Superintending Engineer.

He was elected an Associate Member on the 1st December, 1891.
