By 1970 Bells Asbestos and Engineering Supplies changed its name to Bestobell

1970 Sold Bekon-Bell to Steel Radiators Ltd, including Belkon Domestic Products which it controlled[1]

The company had interests in defence, aviation, distribution and instrumentation.

1970 Acquired General Connectors Corporation of Burbank, the company's first US purchase[2]

1979 BTR failed in a bid to acquire the company but kept the 24 percent of the shares that it had acquired

1982 Acquired Armtec Industries of Manchester, New Hampshire, USA, maker of electronic components for aerospace and other industrial markets[3]

1986 Acquired the level controls division of Fisher Controls of Solingen, Germany[4]

1986 Meggitt acquired the company with support from BTR[5]
